It is always nice to have clear evidence that we are succeeding in our mission. Please read this beautiful thank you note sent by Isaac Ansell Forsyth to his Rebbeim to thank them for his two wonderful years at Shapell’s!
Dear Rabbeim,
I am writing to express my deepest gratitude to my teachers from over the last two years who have given me so much more than I could ever have asked for.
At Shapell’s/Darche Noam, I was empowered with the textual skills to be a true student of and participant in the Oral Torah. With much toil, I am able to enter the conversations of Hillel and Shamai, Rava and Abaye, Rashi and Tosafot. And it is magical.
Additionally though, I feel I have come out a more thoughtful person, with a true love for the diverse and wonderful Klal Yisrael, it and its seventy magnificent paths to Torah, paths of peace. I now realize the importance of the ongoing project of building a relationship with the Almighty, and that this requires work.
I don’t feel that my work is done. Of course it is only the beginning. But what I am so thankful to you all for is for giving me these tools, with which I must now go out into the world and be the best person that I can be.
Your student,
Isaac Ansell Forsyth
