Dr. Yehuda Zauderer grew up in a warm, traditional Jewish home in Suffolk County of Long Island, NY. He enjoys skiing, the outdoors, and playing ice hockey and drums.
Yehuda attended Solomon Schechter from Kindergarten through twelfth grade, receiving a strong sense of Jewish identity. After high school, he attended Hofstra University where he began learning with Rabbis on campus, exploring deeper aspects of Judaism.
After graduating as Pre-med and with a major in Chemistry, Yehuda considered coming to Israel to learn in yeshiva for a year; but, he instead began medical school on Long Island at NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine. He learned Torah throughout medical school, during whatever time was available, listening to shiurim and attending night yeshiva. However, he wanted time to work on his independent textual skills and to develop a deeper connection to Torah. After recently graduating from medical school he decided this would be the year to take off for yeshiva. He is now at Shapell’s learning for the year before beginning his medical residency training. He aspires to be a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician, and help people with their musculoskeletal ailments.
Yehuda shared, “I’m very happy with my decision to attend Shapell’s.
The yeshiva draws in students who are motivated to learn and better themselves. The Rabbeim and staff are from various hashkafas which enables me to explore in finding my own way. I do not feel pressured in any way, but am guided to where it is right for me.”
